When the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic first hit New York City in March of 2020, our Detectives, of course, remained on the front lines. Within a few weeks, six of our active Detectives passed away from the virus and the DEA fought for their deaths to be deemed in the line of duty. Det. Jeffrey A. Scalf of the Bronx Gang Unit was appointed to the force on January 31, 2006, and earned his gold shield on March 2, 2015. He died on April 13, 2020 from COVID-19. You can read a full obituary and more information about Det. Scalf on the union’s Honor Roll on our website at www.nycdetectives.org
